Our Educational Program

The Freehold Jewish Center Hebrew School creates a Jewish atmosphere and a love for Torah and Jewish customs. Our dedicated families and staff have a common goal - to do what is best for our students to achieve the love of Judaism.

Our educational program encompasses students from Kindergarten through High School. Aleph through Hey classes (3rd - 7th grades) meet Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Kindergarten classes meet weekly on Thursdays, and Primary I and Primary II classes meet weekly on Mondays. Hebrew High School classes meet twice monthly on Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

Freehold Jewish Center Hebrew School strives to nurture the self-esteem of all of our children. We have also proven our ability to work with students with special needs and to provide them with a Jewish education in a warm and caring environment. Individual tutoring is available for students if warranted.

Every student is required to attend religious services as a means of applying the prayer and Hebrew skills learned in class, as well as to develop an on-going relationship with G-d. Shabbat Morning Jr. Congregation services are from 10:30- 11:45 AM.

Freehold Hebrew School Association (FHSA)

FHSA is the Freehold Jewish Center (FJC) Hebrew School Parents Association. We are an organization that sponsors a variety of enrichment programs for the FJC Hebrew School students that augments the curriculum as established by the Board of Education of FJC. We sponsor family-oriented activities and in class activities which support and enhance their Hebrew School experience.

Meetings are held monthly @ 4:45 during Hebrew School. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend our meetings. Please check our webpage for our schedule of meetings and events. We are always in need of volunteers to help add to the success of our many events. Our many programs are funded by the $35 activity fee paid per student and the fees charged at various events.

FHSA sponsored activities:

  • Rosh Hashanah: Apples and Honey for a Sweet Rosh Hashanah
  • Sukkot: Singing in the Sukkah with the Cantor while enjoying pizza and drinks
  • Simchat Torah: Enjoying chocolate treats while parading with the Torah and flags
  • Chanukah: Our family Chanukah party, a fun-filled event including team competition in mural drawing, skits, and Chanukah debates, ending in a delicious feast of hot dogs and latkes, and of course, joyous Chanukah singing with the Cantor!
  • Tu B’Shvat: A five-course seder celebration complete with colorful, delectable treats.
  • Purim: Our annual Purim gala event.
  • Passover: Our annual model seder tradition.
