Spotlight on the Chesed Committee
The role of the Chesed Committee is to encompass various acts of kindness towards members of the congregation and the community. This includes the following:
Supporting our local food pantry, Open Door
Bikkur Cholim: visiting the sick and following up on hospital aftercare
Participating in Mitzvah Day: a community event sponsored by the JCC of Western Monmouth County. (This year, our Synagogue collected new toys for CentraState Hospital, arranged a blood pressure screening and collected food from our local supermarkets.)
Supporting Mazon, a national organization which gives grants to fight hunger in the USA and around the world
Working with Habitat for Humanity, which seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness by building and refurbishing houses with partner families
Providing a "Sanctuary" program which extends hospitality for local workers during the cold winter months
